About Buck Showalter
Buck Showalter became the youngest manager in the Major Leagues when he was tabbed to lead the Yankees in 1992. He managed the Yankees through 1995 and then was hired as the first manager in Arizona Diamondbacks history in 1996, prior to the team's 1998 inaugural season. The opening campaign saw the Diamondbacks log a 65-97 record. The following season, Showalter led the team to a 100-62 record in what was the biggest turnaround in major league history.
Showalter was hired by the Texas Rangers in 2003 and was recognized as the 2004 American League Manager of the Year. Showalter also won the award in 1994 as the skipper for the New York Yankees.
